Before he died, Pele’s daughter said the King of Football wished Messi victory in the 2022 World Cup.
MOSCOW, March 3 – RIA Novosti. Keli Nascimento, the daughter of three-time world champion Brazilian Pelé, said her father wanted Argentina to win the World Cup in Qatar.
On December 18, the Argentina national team became world champion for the third time in history, beating the French team on penalties in the final of the championship in Qatar. Pele died on December 29, 2022, at the age of 83, after a long illness.
“Everyone who entered the hospital room after the Brazil defeat (every day until the end) asked him: “Hey Pele, which team do you want to win now? Definitely not Argentina!” and “Argentina, yes! The trophy should stay in South America, Messi deserved it.” Everyone put on a joking, sometimes not scared expression: “How? Argentina?!” He replied, “Yes. “He couldn’t watch the final on TV anymore, but he understood that Argentina had won and Messi lifted the trophy. He was happy,” said Pele’s daughter.

Kavazashvili told how to perpetuate the memory of Pele in Russia
Pele is the only player in history to have won the World Cup three times (1958, 1962, 1970). The Brazilian national team, who scored 77 goals in 92 matches, shares it with Neymar, the top scorer in its history. At club level, Pelé represented Brazilian Santos for 18 years, played three more years for the American New York Cosmos, ending his career in 1977. Pele is included in the Guinness Book of Records for the most goals in his professional career – according to some reports, the Brazilian scored 1281 goals.
