MOSCOW, May 21 – RIA Novosti. Russian midfielder Denis Cheryshev has announced that he is leaving Spanish football club Valencia.
The player’s contract with Valencia runs until the summer of 2022.
On Saturday, Cheryshev played against Celta in the 38th, final round of the Spanish championship (2:0) and took the field after the break. It was reported that the player had a farewell dinner with his teammates before.
“I wanted to thank my teammates, the technical team, the medical team and all the employees of this great club. Especially to the fans who were always there for the team even in the most difficult moments. I tried to leave all my strength to the team. Sometimes it brought success on the field, sometimes no, but always being honest in my work and being honest. I tried to help my teammates. The 31-year-old Cheryshev joined Valencia in 2016 and made 122 appearances for the team, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists. In the 2018/19 season, Cheryshev won the Spanish Cup with Valencia.
As part of the Russian national team, the midfielder played 33 matches (12 goals, 5 assists), reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 home world championship with the national team.
