Borodavko: Racing on the world stage without Russian skiers has become a “one-sided game”
KAZAN, March 12 – RIA Novosti, Vadim Kuznetsov. Yuri Borodavko, head coach of the Russian cross-country ski team, said he has agreed with Norwegian skier Petter Nortug, who described the Norwegian team’s domination of the World Cup marathon as boring.
“Without Russian athletes, the level of viewing dropped sharply. Even in Norway, the viewership of the World Cups and World Championships fell by 30 percent,” said the coach.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has suspended Russians and Belarusians from last season’s final starts due to the situation in Ukraine. In October, the FIS Council extended the suspension for the 2022/23 season.
