MOSCOW, March 15 – RIA Novosti. According to the official website of the World Boxing Council (WBC), world super middleweight champion Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez will fight British John Ryder.
The match will be played on May 6 at the Akron stadium in Zapopan, Mexico. Alvarez has not fought in Mexico since 2011.
In September in Las Vegas (USA), Alvarez defeated Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin in his third match in the super middleweight division. The 32-year-old Mexican successfully underwent surgery on his hand after a fight with Golovkin and expects to fully recover by May 2023.
Alvarez is world champion in the second middleweight division according to the World Boxing Association (WBA Super), World Boxing Organization (WBO), WBC and International Boxing Federation (IBF), Mexican 58 wins (39 KOs) with two losses and two draws. Ryder, 34, won 32 fights (18 by knockout) in the professional ring, with five losses.
