Striker Ovchinnikov terminated his contract with “Siberia” and will join “Toronto”
MOSCOW, March 16 – RIA Novosti. Striker Dmitry Ovchinnikov has terminated his contract with the Continental Hockey League (KHL) “Siberian” club and will join the National Hockey League (NHL) “Toronto Maple Leafs” team, according to Twitter agent Shumi Babaev.
In February 2022, Ovchinnikov was selected 137th overall by Toronto in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. A three-year rookie contract was signed with the Russian player starting from the 2021/22 season.
Ovchinnikov has already flown to Canada to join Toronto.
Ovchinnikov has spent this season on loan in Siberia. During the KHL regular season, the 20-year-old striker played 68 games in which he scored 13 points (5 goals + 8 assists).
