Coach Mutalibov appreciated the Russian team’s performance at the World Boxing Championship
NEW DELHI, 25 March – RIA Novosti. Albert Mutalibov, head coach of Russia’s national women’s boxing team, commented on his team’s performance at the World Championships in New Delhi, noting that it was the best result achieved at the World Championships outside of Russia since 2016.
In the weight category up to 70 kg, Anastasia Demurchyan won the world championship, defeating Australian Francis Scott Kaye by unanimous decision of the jury. According to the RIA Novosti correspondent, Demurchyan stepped into the Russian anthem at the second gold medal ceremony, after the music of Tchaikovsky, which was mistakenly included in his first performance. In October last year, the International Boxing Association (IBA) announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus were accepted to the competition. They can perform under their country’s flags at international tournaments, and national anthems can be played at award ceremonies.
Earlier, in the decisive match in the weight category up to 63 kg, Natalia Sychugova lost by a split decision to the Chinese Yang Chengyu and took the silver medal, the representative of Russia Diana Pyatak (over 81 kg) became the bronze medalist of the tournament.

The Russian woman opened the anthem after a mistake she made at the World Boxing Championship awards ceremony.
The Women’s World Boxing Championship will conclude on Sunday. The total prize fund of the competition is $2.4 million. Winners will receive $100,000, finalists $50,000, and bronze medalists $25,000.
