State Duma Committee Chairman Svishchev called the IOC’s decision on Russian athletes illegal

MOSCOW, March 28 – RIA Novosti. Dmitry Svishchev (LDPR), chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, described the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Russian athletes as illegal.

On Tuesday, the IOC recommended that international federations allow the Russians, who do not support the special operation as neutral athletes, to begin. At the same time, the organization recommends that athletes affiliated with the armed forces and security services not be allowed to compete. It was also decided that teams from Russia and Belarus cannot be accepted as participants in international competitions.

“It’s a completely illegal decision. The IOC decided it made a mistake by declaring the possibility of admitting our athletes and will now fix it that way. (IOC president Thomas) Bach explained that the athletes are not guilty, Svishchev told reporters, “Svishchev told reporters all over the world There is a normal practice that leading athletes belong to clubs related to the power block. But then apply it to all countries.”
