st. PETERSBURG, March 30 – RIA Novosti, Dmitry Edigarev. Alexei Zhamnov, head coach of the Russian national team, told RIA Novosti that he has not yet spoken to anyone from the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) about his contract.
Earlier, Match TV reported that FHR would not renew its contract with Zhamnov, as he was not satisfied with the results he received as the coach of the Russian national team. The current expert contract with FHR is valid until 30 June 2023.
In mid-March, Spartak Moscow announced that the 52-year-old specialist will lead the team from next season. Zhamnov has been at the head of the Russian national team since September 2021. The team is currently not playing official matches, as the board of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus indefinitely from international competitions at the end of February 2022.
