FSBR chief Mamiashvili: Ukraine’s boycott of competition with Russians will lead to nothing
MOSCOW, April 1 – RIA Novosti, Vasily Bogdanov. Mikhail Mamiashvili, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), told RIA Novosti that the decision of the Ukrainian government to ban its athletes from participating in competitions with the Russians will lead to nothing.
Oleg Nemchinov, previously a member of the executive committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, said that the country’s government has decided to ban Ukrainian athletes from participating in the qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympics, in which Russian athletes will participate. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) responded by saying that the boycott contradicted the position of many Ukrainian athletes and members of the Ukrainian Olympic community and would only harm Ukrainian sport.
“Well, it is not for me to cross my homeland, Ukraine, which allowed me to take the first steps. How can we be forbidden to be friends? Maybe then it is impossible to walk on the same land? Mission Maintain and develop maximum contact with international federations We must join hands and avoid division. It is necessary to take into account the lessons learned from the past. ”

Tarasova: I don’t care if Ukrainians want to compete with us
On Tuesday, March 28, the IOC recommended that international federations allow the Russians, who do not support the special operation as neutral athletes, to begin. At the same time, the organization recommends that athletes affiliated with the armed forces and security services not be allowed to compete. It was also decided that teams from Russia and Belarus cannot be accepted as participants in international competitions.
