Canadian Ice Hockey has not contacted FHR about the Super Series
MOSCOW, April 3 – RIA Novosti, Andrey Senchenko. The Canadian Hockey Federation (Canadian Hockey Federation) has not contacted the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) about organizing a series of friendly matches between the teams of the two countries, a source close to the situation told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, sports journalist Alexei Andronov reported on his Telegram channel that Canadian Hockey and the National Hockey League are planning to hold a three-game series between teams of Canadian and Russian NHL players that can be played in Canada in 2024. Only hockey players and coaches from the NHL are scheduled to be included in national teams.
It was previously reported that the NHL is considering the possibility of holding the World Cup in February 2024 with the participation of the Russian team. The league later said they hoped to host the World Cup in 2025. The tournament is not held under the auspices of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the last World Cup was held in 2016, the Russian team reached the semi-finals, the Canadians won.
On March 22, the IIHF Council extended the ban for the national teams of Russia and Belarus to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of the organization for the 2023/24 season.
