Zhikharev won the 100m butterfly at the Russian Championships in Kazan
KAZAN, April 18 – RIA Novosti. Petr Zhikharev won the 100m butterfly at the Russian Swimming Championships in Kazan.
Zhikharev swam the distance in 50.88 seconds. Andrey Minakov (51.23) took the second place, Mikhail Vekovishchev closed the top three (51.64).

Stepanov breaks 14-year Russian record in 800m freestyle
In March 2022, the International Swimming Federation (FINA, now World Aquatics) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. This April, the World Aquatics Bureau supported the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Committee and announced the creation of a working group to examine the possibilities of Russian or Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions with neutral status.
