Belgian Dries De Bondt won the 18th stage of the Giro d’Italia.
MOSCOW, May 26 – RIA Novosti. Belgian Dries De Bondt of Alpecin-Fenix won the 18th stage of the Giro d’Italia multi-day cycling race.
De Bondt covered the 156 km from Borgo Valsugana to Treviso in 3 hours 21 minutes 21 seconds. Italian Edoardo Affini and Dane Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education – Easypost) from Jumbo-Visma finished at the same time as the winner.
Pavel Sivakov from Ineos Grenadiers, who changed his sports citizenship from Russian to French, took 40th place.
In the general classification, Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) is ahead, Australian Jay Hindley (Bora – Hansgrohe, +3 sec) is second, Spain’s Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious, +1 min 5 sec) is third. Sivakov is in 17th place (+30.52).
The nineteenth stage of the 178 km long Giro d’Italia will be held on the route Marano-Lagunare – Santuario di Castelmonte on 27 May.
