The Czech Olympic Committee took a decision against the possible participation of Russians in the Olympics.
MOSCOW, April 28 – RIA Novosti. The Plenum of the Czech Olympic Committee (COV) has approved a draft resolution on the possible participation of the Russian and Belarusian national teams in the 2024 Olympics in Paris and in the qualifying tournaments.
In February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that, due to the situation in Ukraine, international sports federations should prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions as a preventive measure. On January 25, the IOC executive committee called for the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions with neutral status, while proposing that athletes who actively support special operations in Ukraine should not be allowed. The IOC is discussing mechanisms for Russian involvement with international federations.
Earlier, the COV press service stated that the organization did not consider the option of boycotting the Olympic Games in Paris if Russian and Belarusian athletes were admitted to Paris. At the end of March, the committee formed an expert group to gather legal documents that would prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the Games.
