FFKKR Executive Committee approves Davis and Smolkin transfer to Georgia national team
WIN, June 5 – RIA Novosti, Adela Ziatdinova. The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) executive board has approved the transfer of the dance duo consisting of Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin to the Georgia national team, Elena Chaikovskaya, head coach of the Russian figure skating team, told RIA Novosti.
Davis, who is the daughter of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze, is an American citizen. Her partner is the son of actor Boris Smolkin.
In the 2022/23 season, Davis and Smolkin missed all local tournaments due to problems with their partners’ documentation. In the summer, American journalist Dave Leese reported that the duet plans to move to the US national team, but the skaters themselves denied this information.
Skaters are the silver medalists of the Russian Championship. The duo took 14th place at the 2022 Olympics held in Beijing.
