CSKA defeated Rostov in the RPL 17th round match played under heavy snowfall.
MOSCOW, December 3 – RIA Novosti. CSKA players defeated Rostov at home in the 17th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL), which was played under heavy snow conditions and was under threat of postponement.
The meeting held in Moscow on Sunday ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the hosts. The goals were scored by Fedor Chalov (4th minute from the penalty spot) and Victor Mendez (68) and this was his first goal for the club. The Chilean midfielder scored in his 58th match in the army.

In the first make-up minute of the second half, Rostov’s defender Viktor Melekhin was sent off the field.
While the players were warming up before the start of the match, the CSKA stadium was cleared of snow using snow blower tractors. The final decision to hold the meeting was made approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the match. The teams played with red balls, and stadium officials cleared snow from the field during the match.
CSKA collected 28 points and rose to fifth place in the RPL rankings. Rostov is in 10th place with 20 points. The army team will face Krasnodar away in the next round on December 10, while the yellow-dark blue team will face Akhmat in Grozny the day before.
