Sky News: Ratcliffe and Manchester United will soon announce a deal to buy shares in the club

MOSCOW, December 4 – RIA Novosti. According to Sky News, Manchester United football club and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe are planning to make a deal worth £1.25 billion to buy a 25% stake in the Red Devils in the coming days.

It was previously known that Ratcliffe, the owner of Ineos, would purchase a 25% share in the club, while American businessmen Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer would retain the majority shares. Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani withdrew from talks to buy 100 percent of Manchester United shares. It was also reported that Ratcliffe plans to invest $300 million in the club’s infrastructure.

According to the source, the parties have agreed to confirm a deal early next week in which Ratcliffe’s Ineos Sports will receive two votes on the club’s board.

Manchester United’s owners, Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer, bought the club in 2005 for $1.34 billion. Since then, the Red Devils have won the English Premier League five times, won four English League Cups and six FA Super Cups, won the Champions League and played in the final of the competition twice more. Manchester United fans have been campaigning against the Glazer family for the last few years.
