Post: Russian rowers will seek acquittal in Moscow City Court after CAS decision

Rowing Federation plans to appeal CAS decision to expel athletes to Moscow City Court

MOSCOW, June 11 – RIA Novosti. The All-Russian Ski and Canoe Federation (VFGBK) plans to appeal to the Moscow City Court against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on the disqualification of athletes Alexander Dyachenko and Alexandra Dupik, informs Official website of the federation.

Previously, CAS accepted the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appeal against the International Canoe Federation (ICF) decision, disqualifying 2012 Olympic champion skier Dyachenko for 4 years for using trenbolone and methenolone. Para rower Dupik was banned for two years for furosemide.

“WFGBK considers that the CAS decision to disqualify athletes Dyachenko and Dupik is overly political, without any weighty arguments and sufficient evidence base. In the near future, the athletes plan to challenge and appeal the CAS decision, and at the same time, WFGBK will launch an appeal to Sports Arbitration. It is considering the possibility of athletes to appeal to the Moscow City Court against the recognition and enforcement of the court decision.”
