Ukraine may refuse to participate in the 2024 Olympics due to Russian admission
MOSCOW, December 10 – RIA Novosti. The official said that they plan to analyze whether participation in the 2024 Olympics in Kiev is in Ukraine’s interest, and that participation is “impossible” if the International Olympic Committee does not change its position. The country’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Matvey Bedny, is amid reports that the IOC has announced the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Games under a neutral flag.
On Friday, the IOC announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes have been admitted to the Games in Paris with individual neutral status, subject to a set of criteria.
In March, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that Russians and Belarusians be allowed to participate in international competitions on a neutral status, as long as they are not associated with the countries’ military structures and do not speak in support of the SVO. In the autumn, the IOC suspended the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) due to the inclusion of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in the Olympic councils. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced on November 6 that it had registered the PRC’s appeal against the IOC’s suspension.
