RUSADA: Valieva’s request for suspension of suspension processed in record time
MOSCOW, June 21 – RIA Novosti, Andrey Simonenko. The request to lift the temporary suspension of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was processed in record time, said Valeria German, head of the results processing department of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
Valieva’s doping test at the Russian Championships in December 2021 was positive for trimetazidine. In February, Valieva won the Olympic gold medal of the Beijing Games in the team tournament, but the day after the victory, she learned about the positive doping test of the Russian woman. RUSADA first temporarily suspended Valieva from the competition, but lifted the sanctions after a while. The Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed him to compete in the individual Olympic tournament, where he placed fourth.
After the Beijing Olympics, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced the start of its own investigation into the actions of Valieva’s entourage.
“We are obliged under global anti-doping law to fully cooperate with WADA. This is our direct responsibility, so we are conducting our investigation. I cannot comment on a specific case,” said Leonid Ivanov, head of the RUSADA investigation department. The question of whether there is any cooperation between the investigation departments of RUSADA and WADA is sought.
