Matytsin: The issue of admission to winter international competitions will be decided closer to the season
NEW DELHI, 23 June – RIA Novosti. Russian Federation Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin told RIA Novosti that the issue of admission of Russian athletes from winter sports to international starts will be decided closer to the beginning of the season.
At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices, and also canceled competitions in Russia. Other federations have allowed athletes from the two countries to compete in neutral status.
Elena Vyalbe, President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), was not re-elected to the board of the International Ski Federation (FIS) in May.
