Expressen.se: Swede Press may be removed from the national team due to contract with Severstal

MOSCOW, June 30 – RIA Novosti. The Swedish Hockey Federation may exclude the defender of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) club “Severstal” Robin Press from the national team games, informs expression.se.

On Tuesday, Press extended its contract with Severstal for one year. The Swedish player scored 21 points (7 goals + 14 assists) in 55 games for Severstal in the 2021/2022 season. Press became the first Swedish hockey player to sign a new contract with a KHL club since February. As noted, the final decision on the future of the player in the national team has not yet been made.

“I don’t want to get in the way of a decision that has to be made before the new season starts. For us, and for myself personally, there is a big difference between players who want to stay in the KHL and those who want to stay in the KHL. Swedish Hockey Association general secretary Johan Stark said: “It’s a different matter, how much does that matter? “We know it’s hard,” he said.

For the Swedish national team, Press made his debut last season and played two matches.
