Cancer survivor Lindbloom joins San Jose NHL
MOSCOW, 13 July – RIA Novosti. Cancer-beating Swedish forward Oskar Lindblom has signed with the San Jose Sharks. reported On the official website of the National Hockey League (NHL) club.
A 2-year contract was signed with the 25-year-old striker. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, as per the club’s policy.
Previously, the Philadelphia Flyers bought the last year of Lindblom’s contract and donated $100,000 on behalf of the hockey player to an organization that supports families affected by cancer.
The New York Rangers also signed a seven-year contract with 29-year-old forward Vincent Trochek.
Lindbloom was selected by Philadelphia in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He joined Flyers in 2017. As part of the team, he scored 97 points (50 goals + 47 assists) in 263 games.
In December 2019, Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma (a malignant tumor of the bone skeleton). After a year of diagnosis and various treatments, she was cancer-free. In 2021, Lindblom received the Bill Masterton Trophy, awarded to a player who showed great sportsmanship and loyalty to hockey.
