Four-time Tour de France winner Froome withdraws from the race due to coronavirus
MOSCOW, July 21 – RIA Novosti. Four-time Tour de France winner Briton Chris Froome has withdrawn from the Tour de France multi-day cycling race due to the coronavirus, according to the official Twitter account of the Israel-Premier Tech team.
On Thursday, the 143.5-kilometer-long 18th stage of the Tour de France will be held.
Spaniard Imanol Erviti of Movistar and Italian Damiano Caruso of Team Bahrain Victorious also tested positive for coronavirus, as the teams reported on their social networks.
Froome is 26th overall, 1 hour 27 minutes 14 seconds behind the leader. Dane Jonas Wingegaard of Jumbo-Visma is the winner (67 hours 53 minutes 54 seconds).
