Earlier, the FIG announced that in 2022 the FIG Congress cannot take place in Sandefjord (Norway) in October, because the Norwegian Gymnastics Federation cannot hold it due to the requirements of the Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Culture. “I am very glad that FIG took an absolutely principled position on this issue. It was not about accepting or not accepting the Russian delegation or the Belarusian delegation. It was about the fact that the elected representatives of Russia or Belarus should not participate. This was the meaning of Norway’s position, first of all. – The Norwegian Olympic Committee, sports committee and ministry. This issue was discussed at the executive committee meeting last week and this week, and it was decided to give the Norwegians one week to carefully weigh their positions,” he said.

“Since no elected representatives of Russia or Belarus have been suspended, they have to attend the congress. That was the position of FIG. Yet the Norwegians, based on the opinion of their “officers”, declared that they could not hold the meeting. He is working on an alternative on the possibility. The Congress will be held. We will also attend. I repeat. FIG for their very honest and consistent position,” said Titov.
