Maccabi defeated Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League qualifier.
MOSCOW, August 17 – RIA Novosti. Players of the Israeli team “Maccabi” (Haifa) defeated Serbian “Crvena Zvezda” in the first match of the Champions League qualifying round.

The match in Haifa ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the home team. Franzdi Pierro (18th and 51st minutes) scored the winning team’s two goals, Thiaronne Cheri (61) scored the winning goal. Aleksandar Pesic (27) and former Rostov midfielder Gelor Kanga (40) scored in Belgrade.
The return match will be played on 23 August in Belgrade. The winner of the match will play in the Champions League group stage. The participation of Russian teams in European competitions has been suspended by the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
