Babikov sprinted in the first stage of the Commonwealth Cup in the summer biathlon
SOCI, August 25 – RIA Novosti. In the summer biathlon held in Sochi, the winner of the sprint race in the first stage of the Commonwealth Cup was Russian Anton Babikov.
Babikov ran without missing the distance and showed a time of 23 minutes 44.4 seconds. Second place was Eduard Latypov (+28.9 seconds; no miss), Alexei Vagin (+1,12.6; one miss) – third place. Belarusian biathletes also participated in the competition.
The Commonwealth Cup stage in biathlon started on Thursday. There will be a women’s run later that day.
Previously, the International Biathlon Union (IBU), against the background of the situation in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices and suspended the membership of the RBU and BFB. These decisions were taken in line with the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
