Vagin wins the pursuit race in the first stage of the Commonwealth Cup in the summer biathlon
SOCI, 27 August – RIA Novosti. Russian Alexei Vagin became the winner of the pursuit in the first stage of the Commonwealth Cup in the summer biathlon that took place in Sochi.
Vagin ran the distance in 33 minutes and 32.1 seconds with a single miss. Petr Pashchenko was second (+9.1 seconds; 2 misses), Eduard Latypov was third (+13.1; 4 misses). Sprint winner Anton Babikov took 6th place (+46.6; 5 missing). Belarusian biathletes also participated in the competition. Follow-up of women will take place later.
The stage of the Commonwealth Cup in biathlon will last until 28 August.
Previously, the International Biathlon Union (IBU), against the background of the situation in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices and suspended the membership of the RBU and BFB. These decisions were taken in line with the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
