Haas chief Steiner: If Mick Schumacher wants to leave, so be it

MOSCOW, August 30 – RIA Novosti. Haas boss Günther Steiner said German driver Mick Schumacher could leave the F1 team if he wanted to.

It was previously reported that the athlete would not renew his contract with Ferrari academy and would leave Haas at the end of the season. Schumacher could continue his career in Alpin, Williams or Alfa Tauri.

“Who said Mick had to go? The media says that, not me. I say anything is possible. That means Mick can stay. Everyone says Mick is leaving and we have to get Daniel (Ricciardo). How so? ? about who can give Haas the best results next year. What speaks for Schumacher? His appearances in Canada, Silverstone, and Austria. But I also shouldn’t reveal someone right away just to please the public. If Schumacher wants to leave, so be it. Then it’s our fault – we’ll find another solution,” said Steiner, as quoted by Auto Bild.

Mick Schumacher is 23 years old. He has collected 12 points this season and is ranked 15th in the drivers’ standings. Mick is the son of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, his Formula 1 career best result placing sixth at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix.
