Thousands of passengers suffered delays and flight cancellations on Wednesday due to a global IT failure at Lufthansa. Among other things, the computer systems used for boarding the plane had been down since morning. A spokesperson in Frankfurt announced that they are working hard for a solution. A crisis team has assembled at Lufthansa headquarters at the airport.
As a result, an unknown number of flights were delayed or cancelled. Passengers and aircraft backed up at Munich and Frankfurt Airport. According to the staff, passengers were not allowed to be taken to the waiting machines with a scoreboard, as important information about the departure was missing.
Initially, all domestic flights were canceled and passengers were asked to switch to the train.
More soon.
