Post: Apple is tackling global economic woes by releasing new phones and watches

Categories

Apple is expected to unveil a new lineup of iPhone 14 phone models and Apple Watches on Wednesday, a move that will test consumers’ willingness to buy more advanced devices amid a wave of inflation and a weak economy.

Analysts expect Apple to announce that the latest iPhones can send emergency messages via satellite at an annual conference this year called To Longest Range at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Additionally, analysts expect to announce a batch of iPhone 14 phones with several updates, including slightly better cameras, new processors, and prices that are $100 or more higher than last year’s models.

The world’s largest publicly traded companies by market capitalization will likely offer some older or less advanced models at discounted prices. So far, Apple’s relatively wealthy customer base has shown a greater willingness to keep spending despite rising inflation. But the new models will be the mainstay of Apple’s sales in western markets during the holiday shopping season.

Newer iPhones may have the ability to send emergency messages over the Internet via satellite when cellular networks are not available.

Messaging features are expected to be rudimentary, and other companies are working on similar features. SpaceX founder Elon Musk said last month that T-Mobile would use his company’s satellites to connect phones directly to the Internet.

Bob O’Donnell of Tech Analysis Research said ensuring that Apple users can send emergency messages can motivate them to upgrade their phones to get this benefit.

Analysts are also expecting a new set of Apple watches, including an updated version of the cheaper version (Apple Watch SE) as well as a new version (Apple Watch 8), and they are also expecting a new extended version called (Apple). Watch Pro) presumably. Contains new features for athletes.
