French President Macron called on the international community to step up the pressure on Putin.
NEW YORK, September 21 – RIA Novosti. Speaking on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, French President Emmanuel Macron urged the world’s countries to put more pressure on Vladimir Putin, the agency reported. AFP.
He also expressed regret over the Russian leader’s partial mobilization decision.
“Putin’s decisions, announcing the mobilization of reserve forces, among other things, will lead to an even greater isolation of Russia,” he said.
Vladimir Putin signed a partial mobilization decree today. He emphasized that we are talking about reservists with military experience and the necessary military expertise. As Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained, partial mobilization is required to maintain control of the thousand-kilometer contact line and ensure the security of the liberated areas. A total of 300,000 reservists are planned to be recruited into the troops, which is just over one percent of Russia’s total mobilization resources. Shoigu stressed that there was no talk of mobilizing students and sending troops to the special operations zone.
