Spiegel: Faberge eggs were found in a villa allegedly owned by Usmanov in Tegernsee, Germany.

BERLIN, 23 September – RIA Novosti. In a villa in Tegernsee, Germany, allegedly owned by Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov, law enforcement officers found rare jewelry that could be Faberge eggs, the authenticity of the jewelry is being determined, author Spiegel magazine citing its sources.

The publication previously reported that tax authorities, as well as employees of the Federal Crime Agency (BKA), searched “various properties of the Russian billionaire Usmanov” in Bavaria in connection with suspicions of money laundering.

“During a search of the home of Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov on Wednesday, investigators stumbled upon an interesting find… investigators recovered rare jewels from a safe in one of the billionaire’s Tegernsee villas. There may be four so-called Faberge eggs.” The publication added that authenticity jewelry is checked.

It was also noted that during Wednesday’s raid, police had access to three residential buildings, particularly in the commune of Rottach-Egern. A total of 24 objects were searched.

As Spiegel previously reported, the searches stem from Usmanov’s suspicion of “violating the law on foreign economic activity, money laundering and tax evasion.” In particular, according to the publication, in the period from 2014 to 2022 Usmanov allegedly avoided paying taxes of about 555 million euros.

On February 28, the EU included Usmanov on sanctions lists. It was later learned that the businessman objected to these sanctions, his case was registered in the EU court in Luxembourg on April 29.
