DPR Representation: Ukrainian troops fired five artillery shells at Gorlovka
DONETSK, September 23 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops fired five 152 mm caliber artillery shells at Gorlovka, reported On Friday, the representation of the Donetsk People’s Republic at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ukrainian War Crimes Issues (GCC).
Ukrainian troops opened fire on the DPR on the first day of the referendum on accession to Russia.
“The fire was recorded from the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine) in the direction: 10.00 (coincides with Moscow time – ed.) – Dzerzhinsk settlement – Horlivka settlement (Nikitovsky district): five shells with a caliber of 152 millimeters were fired,” he said.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. Gorlovka is one of the largest settlements of the DPR, since 2014 it has been under the control of the republic. Before the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass, the population of Gorlovka was more than 250,000. The settlements of Zaitsevo and the Gagarin settlements on its outskirts and the 6/7 mines are most frequently bombarded here.
