LPR’s CEC Head Kravchenko: turnout on the first day of the referendum was 21.97%
LUGANSK, September 23 – RIA Novosti. Elena Kravchenko, head of the Republic’s CEC, said that the voter turnout in the Lugansk People’s Republic was 21.97 percent on the first day of the referendum on accession to Russia at 20:00 Moscow time.
Noting that a total of 298,900 people voted in the LPR, he said, “Our turnout was 21.97 percent at 20:00.”
According to him, in some cities the voting ended ahead of schedule due to the threat of bombardment. We are talking about Alchevsk and Severodonetsk.
The head of the DPR Central Election Commission, Vladimir Vysotsky, said that turnout in the republic was 23.64 percent by the end of the first day. He added that no violations were recorded. Authorities make every effort to ensure the safety of citizens.
In contrast, the head of the CEC of the Zaporozhye region, Galina Katyushchenko, said that the preliminary turnout in the region was 20.52 percent, taking into account the votes abroad. A total of 8,370 people participated in the referendum held abroad.
It was recorded that 20.43 percent of the voters in Melitopol cast their votes.
Earlier, the head of the electoral commission of the Kherson region, Marina Zakharova, said that the turnout in this region constituted 15.31 percent of the total voter list, and there were no obvious violations in the polling stations.
The referendum on joining Russia began in the morning in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Voting will continue for five days until September 27.
The people immediately called out to the authorities of the regions in an attempt to hold them. According to the representatives of the republics and regions, joining Russia will secure its lands and restore historical justice. According to them, this decision is necessary in the context of the constant terrorist acts of the nationalist Kyiv regime and NATO members who supply weapons to kill civilians.
President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will support the decision made by the inhabitants of the liberated lands.

From September 23 to 27, referendums on accession to Russia in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will last for five days. By Monday, voting will take place in neighboring districts, and on Tuesday, the polls will open for everyone to vote.

Most residents of Melitopol tend to vote on the first day. “We haven’t had time to get started yet today, and there were already a lot of people who wanted to vote. We told them that voting would take place on the 27th at the ballot box, and before that at home. I really want to cast their votes,” said city election commissions.

The operational headquarters was deployed in the LPR to ensure voting security. Units of the people’s militia were put on high alert.

The head of the local People’s Chamber said that the referendum in the LPR was like a bone in the throat for Ukraine, so the republic expects Kiev to try to disrupt it and take measures to protect polling stations.

Parcels have been opened in the regions of Russia for internally displaced persons.

The ballot boxes in Moscow opened on Friday morning in a calm atmosphere.

No extremism was recorded on the first day of the referendum.

District commissions work in a regular mode, they circulate adjacent territories.

The results of the referendum will be known within five days of the completion of the voting.
