Foreign Minister Lavrov: The West wants to break up Russia because of an independent political course
WASHINGTON, September 24 – RIA Novosti. In his speech at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries openly call for the dismemberment of Russia.
He explained such intentions of Western countries by his desire to remove “too much independent geopolitical value” from the political map of the world.
He added that the United States, along with its allies, does not recognize freedom of choice, does not threaten any state that dares to think independently, and does not “bend its arms”.
The Secretary of State emphasized that Washington is trying to give a global scope to the “Monroe Doctrine”, thus turning the whole world into its “backyard”.
