Russian Presidential Office says Western media inflated fake news about referendum in Donbass
DONETSK (DPR), September 25 – RIA Novosti. The representative of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Alexander Malkevich, said that the Western media massively inflated fake news about the referendum in Donbass.
“This is a huge international trend – the so-called “election Bucha” is being built before our eyes by the hands of the Kyiv regime, Kyiv propagandists are building the so-called “election Bucha” (according to the scenario of a provocation in the city of Bucha – ed),” he said.
According to him, a large number of the same type of fake publications about voting in the referendum are mass-published in the leading Western media.
The referendum on accession to Russia began on Friday in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Voting will continue for five days until September 27.
The public immediately attempted to hold a referendum on the regional authorities. According to the representatives of the republics and regions, joining Russia will secure its lands and restore historical justice. According to them, this decision is extremely necessary in the context of the constant terrorist acts by the nationalist authorities of Ukraine and NATO members, who supply weapons to kill civilians.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia will support the decision to be made by residents of the Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

Referendums on accession to Russia in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will last for five days, from September 23 to 27. By Monday, voting will take place in neighboring districts, and on Tuesday, the polls will open for everyone to vote.

Most residents of Melitopol tend to vote on the first day. “We haven’t had time to get started yet today, and there were already a lot of people who wanted to vote. We told them that voting would take place at the ballot box on the 27th, and before that at home. I really want to cast their votes,” said city election commissions.

The operational headquarters was deployed in the LPR to ensure voting security. Units of the people’s militia were put on high alert.

The head of the local People’s Chamber said that the referendum in the LPR was like a bone in the throat for Ukraine, so the republic expects Kiev to try to disrupt it and take measures to protect polling stations.

Parcels have been opened in the regions of Russia for internally displaced persons.

The ballot boxes in Moscow opened on Friday morning in a calm atmosphere.

Olga Makeeva, Ambassador of the Donetsk People’s Republic to Russia, voted at the DPR embassy in Moscow.

The situational center for monitoring the referendums began its work in the Public Chamber of Russia.

Russian senators act as observers in the referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Observers say the referendums are held at the highest possible level so there is “nothing to complain about”.

No extremism was recorded on the first day of the referendum.

District commissions work in a regular mode, they circulate adjacent territories.

The results of the referendum will be known within five days of the completion of the vote.
