Slovak President Čaputova approves the NATO accession protocol of Finland and Sweden
PRAGUE, September 28 – RIA Novosti. Slovak President Zuzana Caputova approved the NATO accession protocol of Finland and Sweden, knowledgeable TV channel TA3 refers to the press secretary of President Martin Strizhynets.
Speaking after the signing of the documents, Chaputova said, “Both Scandinavian countries will further strengthen the alliance with their entry and defense capabilities, thereby increasing our common security. I am happy to have new allies.” said.
On May 18, Finland and Sweden applied to the NATO Secretary General to join the alliance, in the background of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. Initially, Turkey prevented the start of the evaluation process of these applications, but on June 29, Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed a security memorandum that took all Ankara’s concerns into account. Turkey, on the other hand, withdrew its objections to the entry of these two European countries into NATO.
