On September 21, the Russian President declared partial mobilization at the suggestion of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. He said military personnel from the reserve will be called upon primarily with military enlistment specializations that are currently in demand, experienced in military service. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also announced that up to 300,000 people are planned to be sent to the troops.

As the head of state emphasized, before being sent to the troops, “those called up for service will necessarily undergo additional military training, taking into account the experience of a special military operation.”

Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special military operation to demilitarize and de-Nazis Ukraine. Vladimir Putin described his mission as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime”.
