Representation of the DPR: the Armed Forces of Ukraine bombarded the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka and fired four shells
DONETSK, 1 October – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops shelled the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka and fired four shells of 155 millimeter caliber, informs Representation of the Donetsk People’s Republic at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of War Crimes Issues in Ukraine.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. Gorlovka is one of the largest settlements of the DPR, since 2014 it has been under the control of the republic. Before the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass, the population of Gorlovka was more than 250,000. The settlements of Zaitsevo and the Gagarin settlements on its outskirts and the 6/7 mines are most frequently bombarded here.
155 millimeter caliber cannons are used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Kiev with long-range M-777 howitzers of 155 millimeter caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to bombard the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. In addition, the Kyiv troops were provided with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
