DONETSK, October 2 – RIA Novosti. During the night, Ukrainian troops shelled Gorlovka, Makeevka and Yakovlevka four times, including artillery of NATO caliber, reported On the Telegram channel of the representative office of the Donetsk People’s Republic at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Problems Related to War Crimes of Ukraine.

After midnight, the first shelling began at 01:13, the Kalininsky district of Gorlovka was set on fire.

“Three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,” says the publication.

20 minutes later, an attack came to the Chervonogvardeisky district of Makeevka – three more of the same shells. At 02:10 the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired four 122 mm rounds in the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka, and at 02:29 five 152 mm rounds at Yakovlevka.

In the last 24 hours, seven people were killed and ten wounded during the shelling of the Ukrainian army.

155 mm caliber artillery is in service with NATO. In particular, these are the American M-777 howitzer, the German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, the Polish Krab self-propelled guns and the French CAESAR self-propelled guns. The United States and its allies supplied Kiev with a large number of these weapons, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces used mainly to bombard cities and towns in the Donbass.

Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special military operation to de-Nazis and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin described his mission as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime”. According to the president, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee Russia’s security.

From September 23 to 27, referendums on joining Russia were held in the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, in Kherson and in the liberated territory of the Zaporozhye region. The majority of those who voted were in favour. On September 30, Putin and the regional heads signed agreements on the admission of new territories to Russia.
