MOSCOW, October 2 – RIA Novosti. Iranian police detained another group of 12 rebels in Lorestan province on Sunday, transmits The Tasnim agency cited the testimony of local prosecutors.

The Iranian authorities had previously announced that the riots and protests that started in the cities of the country in connection with the death of a young girl named Mahsa Amini were arrested by the police.

Detained by the morality police in Tehran on September 13, Amini was sent to the police station and one of the Faraj centers of military intelligence for a descriptive interview. In this center, the girl suffered a heart attack, after which she was immediately hospitalized. She died three days later, on September 16. Neighborhood residents blamed the deputy police officer for Mahsa’s death. In different cities of the country, people began to gather on the streets to protest. Videos were posted on social media showing the girls cutting their hair and burning a “hijab” or “Rusari” headscarf (an Iranian woman must cover her head).

As a result, protests and riots were constantly held in many major cities of Iran for more than 10 days. According to recent reports, four members of the Basij militia were killed during this time and another 180 were stabbed. According to unofficial local media reports, 41 people were killed and about 100 injured. Videos of police being brutally treated and beaten by protesters were posted on social media. In addition, people organized robberies and pogroms on the streets of cities, damaging public and state infrastructure. For example, more than 60 ambulances were smashed in the first days of the protests. In response, Iranian authorities held large-scale demonstrations in support of the state system and the country’s regime.

According to the statements of Iranian authorities, the unrest in the country was directed from abroad. In this context, the ambassadors of Great Britain and Norway were summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday, and France’s chargé d’affaires to Iran on Thursday. The European diplomat issued a note of protest in connection with the propaganda of destructive anti-Iranian messages in their media, as well as calls for the overthrow of power in Iran.
