Russian Ambassador to Rome Razov was summoned to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to the situation in Nord Stream.

ROME, 2 October – RIA Novosti. Italian Minister of Ecological Transformation, Roberto Cingolani, summoned the Russian Ambassador to Rome, Sergei Razov, of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the situation with the explosions in the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Earlier, the Russian embassy reported that Razov will arrive at the Italian Foreign Ministry on Monday morning.

On the broadcast of Rai3 TV channel, he said, “Clarifying the situation with sabotage in North Stream is on the agenda. They will start with sabotage in Nord Stream and they will continue to discuss the war.”

Referring to the situation regarding gas supply to Italy, Chingolani stated that the underground storage facilities are filled at an adequate level of 90%. Also, the situation with gas reserves allowed Italy to export “in the amount of 18-20 million cubic meters per day”, according to the minister.

Last Monday, there were simultaneous terrorist attacks on two of Russia’s gas pipelines exporting to Europe. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not exclude targeted sabotage. The Russian side formally requested information from Denmark about the emergency in the Nord Stream as soon as the incident occurred. Danish authorities reported the explosions that occurred at the site of the gas leak to the Russian Federation. Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines is unprecedented and it is impossible to predict the repair time.

Operation of Nord Stream has been suspended since the end of August due to problems with repairing Siemens turbines due to Western sanctions, but the pipeline remained full of gas. Nord Stream 2, which was completed in 2021 but never put into operation, is already gas-filled.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated a case regarding the international terrorist act after the damage to the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines. Russian President Vladimir Putin, talking about the sabotage in Nord Stream, said that the Anglo-Saxons are no longer enough sanctions, they are starting to destroy the pan-European energy infrastructure.
