Pentagon: Two HIMARS multiple rocket launchers from US allies are on their way to Ukraine
WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 – RIA Novosti. Two HIMARS multiple rocket launchers from US allies are en route to Ukraine, Pentagon Assistant Secretary Laura Cooper said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“We are not the only ones supplying multiple launch rocket systems. In addition to the 20 HIMARS that the US has provided to Ukraine, there are ten more from the allies and two more from the allies (they are going to Ukraine),” he said.
The Pentagon said on Tuesday that US President Joe Biden announced a new $625 million package of US military aid to Ukraine, including four HIMARS, 32 artillery guns and 200 armored vehicles.
Russia had previously sent memos to NATO countries for supplying weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that the pumping of weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative impact.
