ZURICH, 12 May – RIA Novosti. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Thursday that Denmark would support Finland’s rapid accession to NATO.
Earlier, Finnish President and Prime Minister Sauli Niinistö and Sanna Marin issued a joint statement stating that the country should apply for NATO membership without delay.
In a statement on the Danish government’s Twitter account, Frederiksen said, “Strong statements from the President and Prime Minister of Finland. Denmark will of course welcome Finland to NATO. Denmark will do its best to support the rapid application process after the official announcement.” .
He also added that Finland’s accession to NATO would strengthen the alliance and common security.
