Russian Ambassador Razov against terrorist attacks in Nord Stream: we have no fools
ROME, 7 October – RIA Novosti. Russian Ambassador to Italy Sergei Razov has disclosed speculations about the “effect of anti-Russian propaganda” regarding Russia’s involvement in terrorist attacks on Nord Stream gas pipelines.
“Now there are speculations that the Russians have blown up their own gas pipeline. I understand that under the influence of anti-Russian propaganda, people may have different opinions about the Russians, about Russia’s leaders, but I can assure you we have nothing. Fools,” the Italian television channel said on Thursday evening. In a political program broadcast on Rai1.
Talking about the European partners’ plans to reject Russian supply, Razov said he did not understand “what is the problem with Russian gas”.
“We’ve been supplying gas to Europe and Italy steadily for 50 years, without any problems. And we were ready to continue to provide it. But then Italy and its allies decided to get rid of its dependence on Russian gas. It’s not our choice, it’s yours.” said the Russian ambassador.
The attacks took place on September 26 simultaneously on two Russian gas pipelines exported to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not exclude targeted sabotage. Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines is unprecedented and it is impossible to predict the repair time.
Gazprom reported on October 3 that the pressure in the damaged Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines has stabilized, gas leaks have stopped, and gas is pumped through another Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to check its integrity. In response, the Swedish Coast Guard said that a “smaller” leak from Nord Stream 2 continued that day, and even slightly increased.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia initiated the initiation of a case related to an act of international terrorism. Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said the Danish government is determined to reject Russia’s involvement in the sabotage investigation and identification of those responsible. According to Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it can only be considered credible and impartial if Russia is involved in the investigation of terrorist attacks against Nord Stream.
