On the same day, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko signed a decree implementing a moratorium on raising prices and tariffs in the domestic market. According to the government, price increases as a result of the cancellation of promotions, discounts and sales are also not allowed, and government agencies are given the right to close facilities and revoke licenses for violators of the moratorium. The country also announced extensive monitoring of prices. The State Inspection Agency warned that if price increases for any goods occur, the strictest response measures will be taken until criminal proceedings are initiated.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office requested from the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Interior and the Financial Investigation Department to immediately open a criminal case on the fact of every violation of the law that caused an unreasonable increase in prices, the detention of suspects and choose a restraining measure in the form of detention,” the ministry said, In a statement on his Telegram channel.

According to the agency, a continuous analysis of information on inspections carried out by prosecutors, regulatory authorities in all regions, monitoring on the inadmissibility of price increases, revealed the facts about the increase in the cost of products sold, applications for which intervention measures were taken, as well as from citizens, legal entities in this field, and their evaluation results.

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office warned that “every case of violation of the law, incomplete and ineffective measures will be subjected to a fundamental evaluation, and prosecuting measures will be taken until criminal cases are opened.”
