The Ministry of Defense opposed the cancellation of festive New Year events in the regions
MOSCOW, October 7 – RIA Novosti. Colonel-General Viktor Goremykin, head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces, said that attempts by the regions to cancel New Year’s events in order to provide assistance to the Russian army are premature.
He stressed that the army now has all the necessary equipment to fully supply units and each soldier. We are talking about both special military operations areas and training places of mobilized citizens.
Goremykin expressed his gratitude for the support provided in the regions, but noted that it was not worth canceling the New Year celebration.
Previously, especially the Leningrad region, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod have attempted to cancel New Year’s holiday events in order to channel the savings for mobilized citizens and their families.
On September 21, Vladimir Putin declared partial mobilization in the country. According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, it is necessary to control the 1000-kilometer line of contact and liberated areas in Ukraine. A total of 300,000 reservists are planned to be called in, which is just over one percent of Russia’s total mobilization resource.
