TAC: Vladimir Putin has no reason to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine
MOSCOW, October 17 – RIA Novosti. He wrote that popular opinion in Washington about the possibility of Moscow using nuclear weapons in Ukraine is meaningless. American Conservative Peter van Buuren, former US State Department official.
According to the author, the White House fears that Russia may resort to this route in the event of a “complete failure”.
“It’s hard to imagine a further explanation from the truth. Putin is not in danger of being defeated in Ukraine. <…> If you’re wondering what the defeat looked like, look at what happened in Kabul in 1989 or 2021.
The expert noted that there is not a single plausible scenario in which it would be beneficial for Russia to attack with a nuclear weapon. At the same time, Washington’s threats in response to a hypothetical strike are untenable because the United States, in the context of the situation in Ukraine, prefers to limit itself to a show of aggression, he added.
Earlier, Biden said that for the first time since the Cold War and the Caribbean crisis, the world was threatened by a nuclear war, and blamed Russia for it. Later, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained that the American leader’s statement on the threat of “atomic apocalypse” was not based on new data from American intelligence, which had yet to see any sign of Moscow’s preparation to use nuclear weapons.
Later, the President of the United States declared that the Russian leader did not believe in the possibility of using nuclear weapons, but Washington discussed the possibility of such a development.
In September, Vladimir Putin, in his speech to the Russians, drew attention to the fact that the West has crossed every line in its anti-Russian policy and pointed out the constant threats against Moscow. According to him, it was nuclear blackmail by the West. He reminded Western countries that Russia was superior to foreign military equipment in many respects, and warned that the weather vane could turn in the direction of those who threatened to use weapons of mass destruction against it.
