Ukrainian Minister Fedorov announced the acquisition of a batch of Starlink communication terminals from Poland.

MOSCOW, November 11 – RIA Novosti. The country’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, said that Ukraine received another batch of 1,570 Starlink satellite communication terminals from the Polish government, which will provide the American company Space X with public Wi-Fi access points.

Starlink is a next-generation satellite network designed to provide broadband Internet access anywhere in the world. During the period of martial law in Ukraine, the use of subscriber satellite terminals of the Starlink system was allowed for all categories of users.

“Another 1570 Starlinks from Poland (Starlink terminals – ed.) are already in Ukraine,” Fedorov wrote on his Telegram channel, noting that the country will be provided with public Wi-Fi hotspots where people can communicate.

He stated that some of the terminals are planned to be transferred to civil administrations. In addition, Ukrainian Railways will provide Starlink stations so that passengers and employees have stable mobile communication and Internet.

According to him, since February 24, Ukraine has received more than 20,000 satellite Internet terminals from donors and partners, 5,000 of them with the support of the Polish government.

In early October, the media reported on Starlink blackouts, which led to several weeks of “catastrophic” loss of communications in Ukrainian forces and caused panic among the military. In mid-October, American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk said that SpaceX could no longer pay for Starlink’s service in Ukraine. Earlier, the American media, citing documents, wrote that Space X asked the Pentagon to cover the costs. Musk later said he would continue to fund the Starlink service in Ukraine. Meanwhile, US media reported that the European Union and the Pentagon are considering the possibility of allocating funds to ensure the operation of the satellite communications system in Ukraine in case of such a need.
