Tokayev said he will make a statement about the timing of parliamentary elections at the end of the year.
ASTANA, November 20 – RIA Novosti. Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that he will make a special statement at the end of the year on the timing of parliamentary elections in the country.
On Sunday morning, Tokayev voted in the presidential election in one of the metropolitan polling stations.
Answering a journalist’s question whether the government would be sacked after the elections and whether there would be a “political reset”, Tokayev reminded that the Cabinet’s resignation is not mandatory after the presidential election.
“Political reforms must be continued or there will be stagnation. On the other hand, according to the law, the government does not need to resign after the presidential elections. This is necessarily done after the parliamentary elections. As for the timing. Tokayev, I will make a special statement about this at the end of the year for the parliamentary elections,” he said.
According to him, the government will continue to work. “But there will of course be punctual changes in the structure of government and other departments,” he added.
